About the Owner/ Lead DJ
Floyde Young, Jr.
Born and raised in the Magic City, Birmingham, Alabama, Floyde Young, Jr. has always had a love for music. In middle school he started to dabble in AV running sound for school events. He was asked to “play music” for a Valentine’s Day Dance that was to being held in the school cafeteria after school. With 2 Sony portable CD players, a binder full of “bootleg CDs” and the school’s sound system a DJ was born.

Floyde has been entertaining crowds with is unique DJing style for over 10 years. He goes above and beyond to make sure every gig goes better than expected. There’s not a single genre of music that he can’t play and make entertaining. When he’s DJing a gig you will rarely find him behind his setup instead out on the floor with your guest dancing the night away. When it comes to wedding, he believes that the best kind of wedding DJ is one who runs your wedding reception in a way in which he goes unnoticed. Your guests should leave your wedding and say, “What a fun wedding” instead of saying “What a fun DJ” because at the end of the day, the bride (sorry groom) is the center of attention.

In 2016 Black Tie DJ Company was founded by Birmingham native, Floyde Young, Jr. He wanted to create a company that offered professional DJs that were always friendly, experienced in managing an event and put the couple and clients first, not themselves as the ‘entertainment’. Floyde wanted to create a company with the heart and hospitality the South is known for. Black Tie DJ Company is a full entertainment company that serves its couples and clients with state-of-the-art photo booths, and event lighting, as well as professional, friendly and knowledge DJs.
